Virginia Natural Gas customers expect and deserve natural gas service that’s safe and reliable every day. That includes providing natural gas without interruption through extreme weather, market conditions and unexpected changes in our community.
Why is my bill higher than normal?
At Virginia Natural Gas, we understand that rising energy costs and other factors are impacting household budgets. If you are experiencing higher than normal bills, there are a variety of factors that can cause your bill to fluctuate.
For example, your monthly gas usage. Colder temperatures mean more gas usage and therefore higher bills, whereas warmer than normal temperatures trigger a weather normalization adjustment and can also impact your bill.
In addition, last August VNG filed a rate request and new rates went into effect in January. These rates are subject to a refund with interest after approval by the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
As a reminder, VNG does not set nor profit from natural gas prices. Gas prices are a direct pass through to customers with no mark up.
