Virginia Natural Gas breaks ground on New Kent facility

NEW KENT, Va. – Sept. 30, 2019 — Virginia Natural Gas (VNG) joined forces with local officials and community members from New Kent County Monday during a ground-breaking ceremony, marking the start of construction on a new operations facility to be located in the county.
The new 20,000 square-foot facility will be built in VNG’s northern service territory and will comprise of office and warehouse space along with training areas. When complete, team members based in New Kent will be able to respond quickly to calls since the facility will be centrally located to the company’s northernmost territory in Ashland and Williamsburg.
“The construction of our new facility here in New Kent County represents VNG’s continued commitment to delivering safe and reliable natural gas to the residents and businesses in the northern portion of our service territory in the most expeditious manner,” said Jim Kibler, Virginia Natural Gas president.
With an estimated population of 22,000, New Kent is the second fastest-growing county in Virginia, with a growth rate of 3.2% according to the most recent U.S. census, and up 21% since 2010. New Kent has also maintained population growth, business investment and positive economic activity since 2008.
“New Kent County truly is a great place for business to grow, and VNG is pleased to be part of that modern and dynamic growth,” added Kibler.
The new facility is expected to be completed by the summer of 2020.
