Virginia Natural Gas held the 2024 Virginia Energy Workshop for Students, in partnership with The National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project for this year's Career and Technical Education Month.
Funding for the workshops is supported through a $50,000 grant from Virginia Natural Gas. There is no cost to the teachers or students to participate in the workshops.
This workshop is the second in an ongoing series of no-cost energy awareness workshops hosted by VNG. The first program introduced Hampton Roads teachers to the energy sector and provided them with professional development resources to enhance student understanding of clean energy, efficiency and conservation.
During this workshop, students had the chance to participate in activities that promoted learning about how clean, reliable and affordable natural gas is as a resource. They had the opportunity to experience different energy-related stations, build an energy-efficient home and discover how challenging the movement of energy can be, and how it is used to strengthen our communities. The workshop also included VNG experts showcasing the latest technology in the realms of virtual reality training, drone use and advanced leak detection.
Thank you to all the students, educators and administrators for traveling from McIntosh Elementary School and Southside STEM Academy at Campostella to participate in this fun learning experience. Shout out to all our VNG volunteers for assisting with today's event!
