Virginia Natural Gas launches free Energy Savings Kits and limited-time smart thermostat savings
Customers can access no-cost tools and deep thermostat discounts to save energy this spring
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – April 9, 2026 – Virginia Natural Gas (VNG) is rolling out new ways for customers to save energy, increase comfort and lower monthly bills with the relaunch of its free Energy Savings Kit program and a limited-time smart thermostat offer available this spring.
Together, the offerings make it easier for customers to take control of their home energy use through simple, low-cost solutions that deliver immediate value.

Free Energy Savings Kits
Virginia Natural Gas residential customers can choose one free Energy Savings Kit per service address each program year, which runs from June 1 through May 31. Customers simply enter their account number and answer one short question online.
Available options include:
- Weatherization Kit for customers who use natural gas as their primary energy source for space heating. Items include door sweeps, window insulation materials, foam gaskets and insulating foam to help seal air leaks and improve comfort.
- Hot Water Conservation Kit for customers who use natural gas as their primary energy source for water heating. Items include WaterSense-approved showerheads and faucet aerators along with pipe insulation to reduce hot water energy use.

Limited-time smart thermostat offer
Beginning April 8, Virginia Natural Gas will offer customers a limited‑time opportunity to purchase significantly discounted smart thermostats online. Smart thermostats help customers manage home energy use more efficiently by allowing them to adjust settings remotely, create schedules and reduce energy use when they’re away. For a short time, select models will be available starting as low as $9.99 after rebates and manufacturer incentives.
