VNG Provides $11K Sponsorship to Shamrock Marathon Weekend, Youth Fitness Initiative

The 2022 Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend recently took place at the beachfront, and Virginia Natural Gas (VNG) was proud – and lucky – to be one of the event’s sponsors again this year. As part of its $11,000 sponsorship, VNG helped race day participants “sham-rock” on by providing Fuel for Life Hydration Stations throughout the half marathon and marathon courses and was the featured sponsor for the Fuel for Life Final Turn.

VNG’s sponsorship also included partnering with one local school, Parkway Elementary School in Virginia Beach, for the Making Strides Youth Fitness Initiative, a program whose purpose is to combat childhood obesity by promoting youth fitness and an active lifestyle.

During the Making Strides campaign, team members from Virginia Natural Gas joined staff from J&A Racing, the host organization for the Shamrock Marathon Weekend, to help distribute 700 running shoes to local students. These students then joined 4,000 other area students for the Operation Smile Final Mile during the Shamrock Marathon Weekend. VNG provided 50 deserving students race entries for the Shamrock Final Mile as well as bus transportation to and from the event.
