Celebrating Our Commitment to Community Service with United Way

work group celebrating United Way

The United Way of South Hampton Roads recently marked an impressive milestone – 100 years of service. Amid this remarkable achievement, VNG, in partnership with the United Way, demonstrates steadfast dedication to community service and corporate social responsibility.

In August, Virginia Natural Gas' President Robert Duvall and United Way Campaign Chair, Thomas Mulvaney, ignited our United Way campaign. This event highlighted special initiatives and the campaign's local impact.

We then turned fundraising into Fun with "Fun'd Days" where employees grilled, dunked leaders, sold raffle tickets and hosted a family movie night—with all proceeds going straight to the United Way.

Virginia Natural Gas' IBEW team members played their part, and gathered for United Way Breakfasts, where they learned about the work of local United Way agencies.

Virginia Natural Gas employees even hosted a vibrant car show at the Virginia Beach Headquarters with classic cars, camaraderie, and positive community spirit. There was a $20 entry fee and every penny made from the event was donated to the United Way.

In September, VNG employees rolled up their sleeves for community service on the United Way Day of Caring. Dozens of employees participated in volunteer activities at Seatack Elementary an Achievable Dream Academy, ForKids and Habitat for Humanity Restore in Williamsburg where efforts ranged from welcoming and reading to young students to helping these charitable organizations clean and organize their facilities.

The United Way has served our community with dedicated service for well over a century and its partnership with VNG has created a transformative change in our communities. This change would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment to volunteerism by our esteemed employees.
