Customers Affected By Recent Tornados:

Following the tornados in the Suffolk County area, Virginia Natural Gas, working with local emergency management and fire officials, shut off service to approximately 300 homes in the hardest hit areas, primarily in the Burnett’s Mill and Hillpoint Farms subdivisions of Suffolk.

  • Virginia Natural Gas crews are in those neighborhoods shutting off service to individual homes and preparing to pressure test the lines. Once the Fire Department determines it is safe for customers to return to their homes, our crews will begin restoring service.
  • Virginia Natural Gas field personnel will leave a door hanger on every home where service was interrupted that will include a phone number for you to call to arrange a time to have your service restored and appliances relit.
  • You must be home in order for gas service to be restored.
  • For your SAFETY we ask that you do NOT attempt to restore service to your natural gas appliances yourself.  Please wait for a Virginia Natural Gas field service representative to check and re-light your appliances.
  • Virginia Natural Gas has made a donation to the local Red Cross Tornado Fund to assist those affected by these tornados.
